During a recording for a Pepsi commercial, Michael and his brothers were performing in front of an audience of 3,000 when he went too close to a pyrotechnic. Flames landed on Michael’s head burning through his hair, and he suffered second-degree burns to his scalp. He was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and later moved to Brotman Memorial Hospital.
